Commands to
the list server are sent by email
No
subject is needed, if it is present it will be ignored.
Commands are entered in the body of the email message,
you can leave
the subject line blank
Command words are shown in blue

Your mail should look like this for the unhold command
Commands:
unhold
- If the server encounters
repeated problems delivering your email it will put your account on
hold. If your emails have stopped try this, you may have been put
on hold.
change
password
- To change your password send a blank message to
join
gmclist
- Joins the GMClist. You will get a confirmation email with
further directions. Please use the join page to join
the list.
set
gmclist digest
- This switches your subscription to digest
mode. The digest is sent only one time per day with all
daily email traffic combined into one. If you do not like getting
all the traffic in real time, then this is the mode for you.
You will receive only one email digest every midnight.
set
gmclist mimedigest
- This switches your subscription to MIME digest mode.
The digest is sent only one time per day with all daily email
traffic combined into one. If you do not like getting all the
traffic in real time, then this
is the mode for you. You will receive only one email digest
every midnight. The MIME digest has the days messages sent as
attachments to the digest message, one attachment for each message.
set
gmclist index
- This switches your subscriptin to
a very brief digest format. The index message has no email messages,
it just lists the subjects of
all the messages posted during the day.
set
gmclist mail
- This switches your
subscriptin to 'real-time' so you get the messages
as they are posted.
set
gmclist nomail
- Use if you want to stay subscribed
to the list but you want to stop the mail until otherwise
commanded. This is really useful when you make those
trips without email
access and return. Use one of the above commands to restart
your mail.
get
gmclist hello
- Sends you another copy of the welcome message you received
when you jooined the list.
leave
gmclist
- Leaves the list. You will not receive any more emails from
the list if this is done correctly.
